Stained Glass Christmas Star Suncatcher – 7-Pointed Moravian Star, Red Silver Gold, 4 Colour Designs

A 7-pointed stained glass star — the Moravian Advent star — with alternating crimson red and textured silver-white hammered glass rays, a pearl glass cabochon at the centre junction, and a silver pewter wire frame. Each of the seven elongated diamond-shaped points is individually cut and copper-foil soldered by hand. The hammered texture on both the red and silver glass panels refracts light in multiple directions as the sun moves, shifting the star’s colour and shadow throughout the day. Hangs on a fine silver chain from the top point. Size: approx. 15 cm / 6 in.

The Moravian star (also called the Advent star or Herrnhut star) is a traditional Central European and Scandinavian Christmas symbol — 7, 8, or 26 points radiating from a central sphere, used as a window hanging throughout Advent and Christmas. This 7-pointed version is the most geometrically striking of the traditional forms: seven elongated points create a bold, graphic silhouette that reads clearly from outside the window as well as inside. The alternating red and silver colourway is the most classically Christmas of the four designs.

Light Behaviour
The hammered texture on the glass panels creates a rippled, moving light effect — unlike smooth cathedral glass, which transmits a solid colour, hammered glass breaks the light into shifting highlights and shadow. In a bright morning window the star throws red and silver light patches onto the wall and floor behind it. At lower sun angles the pearl cabochon at the centre catches and concentrates the light into a single bright point.
